Three promoted within FDPD

McLaren, Stanley, Carlyle step up

Three Fort Dodge police officers are now in new leadership roles.

Donald McLaren has been promoted from lieutenant to captain.

Zachary Stanley has been promoted from sergeant to lieutenant.

Caitlyn Carlyle has been promoted from detective to sergeant.

The string of promotions was prompted by the departure of Capt. Ryan Gruenberg, who is resigning Friday to become vice president of operations for Iowa Central Community College.

The promotions were approved Monday by the City Council.

McLaren has been a Fort Dodge police officer since 2007. He has an associate degree in police science from Hawkeye Technical College. He serves on the Special Emergency Response Team.

He has completed the FBI LEEDA Supervisor Leadership Institute and the FBI LEEDA Command Leadership Institute. He has also completed additional training in SWAT Command and Decision Making and High Risk Event Planning.

Stanley has been a city police officer since 2011. He has an associate degree in criminal justice from Iowa Central Community College and a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from University of Arizona Global.

He has served as the department’s Internet Crimes Against Children officer and was a member of the Iowa Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. He is also a member of the Special Emergency Response Team.

He has completed the FBI LEEDA Supervisor Leadership and Command Leadership institutes.

Carlyle has been a city police officer since 2015. She has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Iowa in Iowa City.

She has trained as a crisis negotiator.

She has also worked with Faiferlick Taekwondo, Martial Arts, Self-Defense and Fitness LLC to create the Fight Like a Girl program. That is a class that teaches self-defense skills to girls and women.

While the Police Department saw several promotions Monday, the Fire Department added one emergency medical technician.

Angela Boge is a graduate of Southeast Valley High School and a volunteer with the Southwest Webster Emergency Medical Service in Gowrie.

She most recently worked for Pearl Valley Rehabilitation and Nursing in Gowrie.
