Iowa Central coach named to broadband leadership post

Fort Dodge Fiber, the city’s new broadband utility, has hired Nick Ekel to lead the daily customer service functions.

Ekel will begin his role as customer experience manager on Monday.

“My goal is to make Fort Dodge Fiber the internet provider of choice for our community,” Ekel said. “Providing an exceptional customer experience to the members of our community will be my top priority.”

Since 2017, Ekel has served as an advising and success coach at Iowa Central Community College. He has also served as the college’s head track and field coach and assistant cross country coach.

“I am looking forward to working as a part of a team to provide this essential service that can help improve the quality of life for our community,” Ekel said. “I am excited to help people learn more about our product and help with any questions our customers might have.”

Ekel lives in Fort Dodge with his wife, Emily, and daughter, Sophia.

“Fort Dodge Fiber will strive to provide the best experience for our customers,” said Jeremy Pearson, director of Fort Dodge Fiber. “Throughout our process of finding someone to take the lead on providing that best experience, we were very lucky to have Nick join us. Nick’s passion for providing the best possible customer experience was evident during our search. His background will also be a great benefit as we continue to build the Fort Dodge Fiber team.”
