FDPD sergeant placed on leave after hit-and-run

A patrol sergeant with the Fort Dodge Police Department has been placed on paid administrative leave following a hit-and-run in rural Webster County on Sunday evening.

According to a press release from the department, Sgt. Bryce Presswood has been placed on administrative leave until further notice. Shortly before 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, the Webster County Telecommunications Center received a report of a hit-and-run near U.S. Highway 20 and Vasse Avenue.

When Webster County Sheriff’s deputies arrived, they determined one vehicle had left the scene. There were no injuries reported.

The WCSO and the Iowa State Patrol are continuing to investigate. Any further action will be determined pending the outcome of a full investigation.

Presswood has been with the FDPD since March 2016. From 2018 until February 2022, he served as the school resource officer at Fort Dodge Senior High. In February, he was promoted to sergeant and placed back on patrol.
