FD council to get jail presentation

The Fort Dodge City Council will learn about the proposal for a possible new jail and law enforcement center tonight.

The council will begin its work at 5:30 p.m. in the Municipal Building, 819 First Ave. S., with a workshop on the jail proposal.

The council’s regular business meeting will begin at 6 p.m.

Items on the agenda include the second reading of an ordinance regarding the removal of dead and dying trees from private property.

The council will also consider the second reading of a measure that would renew the downtown Self-Supported Municipal Improvement District for another decade. That’s an area in which property owners pay an extra tax to finance improvements there.
