Taking center stage with Dennis Morgan

Creating smiles; Morgan enjoys staying busy and entertaining

When Dennis Morgan moved from Minneapolis to Fort Dodge he had to make a fresh start.

Morgan knew to meet people he had to be involved, and the Dodger senior took that to the extreme.

Through his career at FDSH he has been involved in singing, band, jazz band, marching band, choir, speech, fall play and musicals.

Outside of the fine arts Morgan was also a cheerleader, played football, robotics and tennis. He recently joined the green team, which deals with the environment.

“Being involved in all these things brings me joy,” Morgan said. “When I moved here I had no friends and doing sports and clubs made me gain friends.”

One friend that helped Morgan reach out to as many opportunities as possible was classmate Bo Tracy, who is also involved in the fine arts.

“When I moved to high school Bo talked me into doing a musical,” Morgan said. “I started performing my freshman year and I’ve been doing it ever since.”

When Morgan is on stage or performing, he enjoys the feedback.

“I like being able to see the smile on peoples’ faces after I have performed for them,” Morgan said. “It makes me feel like I’m doing something right.”

With all of his activities, the fact that he is able to get on stage and crowds can watch what he does is the most fulfilling.

“Being in all of these things made me realize that people actually enjoyed watching me,” Morgan said. “That made me want to continue doing activities even more.”

Upon graduation, Morgan plans on attending Iowa Central Community College to perform while taking nursing classes.
