DAYTON — A selection of antique, classic and just plain cool vehicles will be on display Saturday during Dayton Old Engine Day.

Kids will be able to test their strength during a pedal tractor pull. A bags tournament will cap off the day’s events.

All of the events will be held at Oak Park, where John Skoglund, president of the Dayton Community Club, said there will be plenty of room and shade.

The car show will begin at 11 a.m. and continue until 2 p.m. Skoglund said any old car “whether they are shiny or not” is welcome. In past years the event has attracted cars, pickups, tractors, an old military truck, and some restored semi tractors. Old stationary engines have also been displayed.

Skoglund said there is no entry fee for the car show. He said the first 100 participants will get dash plaques. Johnson Truck Repair, of Stratford, provided the dash plaques.

The kids pedal tractor pull will begin at 2 p.m.

At 3 p.m. the bags tournament will begin. Teams can register for the tournament on Saturday.

There will be a raffle for a children’s pedal car, with the drawing to be held right after the pedal tractor pull.

A DJ will be playing music throughout the day and the Dayton Community Club will be serving walking tacos.
