Pomeroy man shot, killed Saturday
Suspect arrested, charged with murder
POMEROY — A Pomeroy man was shot and killed Saturday afternoon, according to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies, Pomeroy Police Department officers and Calhoun County EMS responded to the scene at 210 S. Ontario St., where they found the victim with a gunshot wound to the chest.
Anthony Hinners, 59, was pronounced dead at the scene and has been transported to the Iowa State Medical Examiner in Ankeny for autopsy.
As a result of a joint investigation between the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, 66-year-old Michael Hinners was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, a Class A felony.
Michael Hinners is being held in the Carroll County Jail.
