Lincoln neighborhood, fiber director on agenda for FD council

If approved, Pearson would fulfill new role

The Fort Dodge City Council will get a first look at plans for potential new housing just north of downtown when it meets tonight.

The council will have a 5 p.m. workshop discussion in the Municipal Building, 819 First Ave. S., on the proposal for the Lincoln neighborhood.

The Lincoln neighborhood has been targeted for redevelopment. The city government has purchased and demolished many old houses there in the last few years.

The report to be received tonight offers suggestions on building new apartments and houses in the neighborhood.

The council’s regular business meeting will begin at 6 p.m.

During that meeting, the council will consider appointing Jeremy Pearson as the first director of Fort Dodge Fiber, which is the new municipal broadband utility.

Pearson is currently the director of technology for the Fort Dodge Community School District.

If the council approves his appointment, Pearson will start his new job on May 2.

His starting salary will be $107,840.

Starting at $4.94/week.
