ALGONA — Law enforcement personnel in Algona are investigating a Saturday incident where police say a person was shot at in the North Park Drive area.

The Algona Police Department was called to the area shortly before 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, according to a department release.

Witnesses indicated there had been an altercation between parties in two vehicles in the area, and after the shooting one vehicle took off at a high rate of speed.

A suspect and vehicle description were sent out and the suspect vehicle was stopped later with help from the Iowa State Patrol and the Iowa Department of Transportation. As of Saturday, the suspect was taken into custody, but identification and charges were not being released.

The Algona Police Department was also assisted by the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and the Clear Lake Police Department.
