Hardin County man killed in farm accident

GOWRIE — A Steamboat Rock man died Saturday due to an accident at a hog farm near Gowrie.

Webster County Sheriff Chief Deputy Derek Christie said there were two semitrailors waiting to unload at the farm located at 1165 390th St. around 2:30 a.m. One unnamed semi driver was moving his truck and did not realize the other truck driver, 27-year-old Michael Pittman, of Steamboat Rock, was between the two semis.

“As the driver was backing up and turning his semi, Pittman was walking between the two semis and it pinched him between the two semis,” Christie said.

Pittman was killed instantly.

In addition to the Webster County Sheriff’s Department, also responding to the scene was Southwest Webster Emergency Medical Service and Deputy Medical Examiner Mark Gargano.
