FD council continues budget review

The Fort Dodge City Council continued its work on the proposed 2022-2023 budget by reviewing a number of smaller spending plans Monday evening.

The biggest budget examined was for the Dodger Area Rapid Transit Bus service, which is operated for the city by the MIDAS Council of Governments.

The proposed budget is $1,272,113.77.

However, most of that money will come from federal and state transit assistance and fares paid by riders. City taxpayers will contribute $262,000 through a transit levy on their property taxes.

These additional budgets were reviewed Monday:

• City clerk’s office: $204,500

• Human resources: $120,875

• Information technology: $112,000

• Municipal Building maintenance: $109,755

• Mayor and city manager’s office: $106,000

• Legal services: $50,000

• City Council: $19,180

The next fiscal year begins on July1, but state law requires cities to have their budgets done by mid-March.
