Fort Dodge man arrested for convenience store robbery

A Fort Dodge man was arrested early Wednesday morning for a Nov. 15 armed robbery of a convenience store.

Thomas Lee Boone, 32, was charged with one count of first-degree robbery, a Class B felony; two counts of possession of a firearm by a felon, a Class D felony; and one count of trafficking in stolen weapons, a Class D felony, according to criminal complaints..

Officers with the Fort Dodge Police Department were dispatched to the Star Convenience Clark Station at 115 N. 22nd St. around 8:15 a.m. on Nov. 15 for a report of a robbery. When officers arrived, the suspect had fled the scene on foot.

Store staff had reported that a male had entered the store and demanded money from the clerk. The suspect was able to leave with an undisclosed amount of cash.

According to court documents, members of the FDPD and the Webster County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at 721 Ave. C on Wednesday morning, as a result of the ongoing investigation into the robbery.

During the search, officers located and seized a loaded Smith & Wesson handgun, and undisclosed amount of cash and clothing that was “consistent with clothing observed on video surveillance at the time of the offense.”

Boone will have his initial appearance in Webster County Magistrate Court this morning.
