Fire destroys FD home
No one injured in blaze
No one was injured Tuesday morning when a fire broke out in a Fort Dodge home.
Fort Dodge Fire Rescue responded to the fire at 3102 N. 15th St., Lot No. 76, shortly after 7 a.m. when a neighbor called to report it.
Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy flames coming from the rear windows of the home.
Neighbors advised firefighters that there may be an occupant and dog still inside.
Fire crews immediately began an aggressive interior fire attack. After search and rescue operations were conducted in zero visibility and extreme heat, no occupants or animals were found.
The fire spread from the home to the garage, but fire crews were able to contain the flames to just those structures and prevented it from spreading to homes on either side.
The majority of the house and garage suffered major fire damage, with heat and smoke damage throughout the entire structure. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The occupant of the house is listed in fire reports as Nicki Dickerson.
Fort Dodge Fire Rescue was assisted on the scene by the Fort Dodge Police Department and MidAmerican Energy.
