2 held in FD stabbing

Two Minnesotans have been arrested following an investigation into a Nov. 2 stabbing on Fort Dodge’s south side that left a woman in critical condition, the Fort Dodge Police Department announced.

On Nov. 4, FDPD investigators, along with the Webster County Attorney’s Office and the Ramsey County Violent Crime Enforcement Team arrested 22-year-old Marcus M. Western, of Minneapolis.

Western is charged with attempted murder and first-degree burglary, both Class B felonies. He is being held in the Anoka County Jail in Minnesota awaiting extradition back to Iowa.

On Nov. 5, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Investigations arrested 19-year-old Sharon K. Morara of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota. She was also arrested while in Minneapolis and charged with attempted murder and first-degree burglary.

Officers responded to a welfare check at 2418 12th Ave. S. around 2 a.m. on Nov. 2. Upon entering the residence, they found a 21-year-old female suffering from multiple stab wounds. The victim was later airlifted to a Des Moines area hospital in critical condition. FDPD has not released the victim’s name or her current status.

According to the FDPD, officers learned that the suspects had connections to the Minneapolis area and began working with law enforcement in that area to locate the suspects.

Morara was transported to Webster County on Tuesday and had her initial appearance in Webster County Magistrate Court Wednesday morning. She is being held in the Webster County Jail on a $1 million cash-only bail.
