A 16-year-old girl was fatally injured in a crash in Sac County on Tuesday morning.

According to the crash report from the Iowa State Patrol, the teen — who was not named — was driving a 2011 Buick Enclave eastbound on Iowa Highway 175, east of Auburn, around 8:30 a.m. when the vehicle crossed the center line for an unknown reason.

A 2001 Peterbilt semi truck was traveling west on Iowa Highway 175 and attempted to avoid the collision by braking and driving on the north shoulder, but the two vehicles collided head-on.

The driver of the semi was not injured.

The Iowa State Patrol is continuing to investigate this incident.
