Jeep driven through FD home

The driver of this Jeep apparently drove up the hill and through the side of this home near South 15th Street and 17th Avenue Southwest Saturday afternoon, totaling the vehicle and leaving extensive damage to the home.

The driver of a Jeep apparently drove up a hill and through a Fort Dodge home on the city’s south side Saturday afternoon.

The Jeep was then driven back down the hill where it came to rest on its front end.

The driver, who hasn’t been identified, then fled the scene, according to Lt. Donald McClaren, of the Fort Dodge Police Department.

The driver was arrested a short time later. Medics were called to the scene to treat the driver. No other injuries have been reported.

The crash was reported sometime after 2 p.m.

The home, located near South 15th Street and 17th Street Southwest, was extensively damaged in the crash. The Jeep is totaled.

According to McClaren, the driver was traveling northbound before failing to negotiate the curve.

The Fort Dodge Police Department and Fort Dodge Fire Department responded.

The incident remains under investigation.
