FD man arrested for shots fired incident

Trae Taylor

A Fort Dodge man was arrested Monday morning in connection with a shots fired incident that occurred over the weekend.

The Fort Dodge Police Department arrested 19-year-old Trae Taylor at approximately 11:45 a.m. Monday. Taylor was charged with:

• Going armed with intent, a Class D felony

• Possession of a firearm as a felon, a Class D felony (two counts)

• Use of a dangerous weapon in the commission of a crime, an aggravated misdemeanor

• Assault while displaying a dangerous weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor

• Person ineligible to carry dangerous weapons, a serious misdemeanor

On Saturday, officers were dispatched to the 1900 block of Second Avenue South shortly after 7 p.m. for reports of shots being fired from a vehicle at an individual walking in the area. The individual was not injured.

The vehicle, a blue Chevrolet Trailblazer, fled the area prior to officers’ arrival. Officers on scene were able to determine the incident was isolated to these individuals and was not a random act of violence.

On Monday, investigators located what they believed to be the suspect vehicle in the 400 block of North 10th Street and observed Taylor drive it to the Clark/Star Convenience located at 115 N. 22nd St.

When he was apprehended, officers found Taylor in possession of a firearm, which he was prohibited from possessing.

Taylor is being held at the Webster County Jail.
