Two injured in Tuesday night motorcycle crash

Two people were taken to the hospital with mild and serious injuries following a crash involving three motorcycles on U.S. Highway 169 on Tuesday night.

According to the Webster County Sheriff’s Office, shortly after 10 p.m., Jerome McElduff, 44, of Fort Dodge, was traveling north on U.S. Highway 169 near 290th Street when a tire on his 2003 Harley-Davidson blew, causing him to lose control of the bike.

Amber Lopez and Collin Towlerton, both 28 and of Fort Dodge, were also riding on two other Harleys, following McElduff.

Lopez attempted to avoid colliding with McElduff’s bike, lost control and was thrown from her 2013 Harley, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Towlerton also attempted to avoid the collision and lost control, but was uninjured.

McElduff was transported by Fort Dodge Fire Rescue to UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries. Lopez was also transported to TRMC by ambulance for minor injuries.

None of the riders were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.
