A Fort Dodge man is facing multiple felony charges after leading law enforcement on a pursuit that ended in a corn field in Hamilton County early Tuesday morning.

According to the Webster County Sheriff’s Office, Blaine Stockwell, 37, was driving a 2010 Cadillac CTS near 290th Street and Samson Avenue in Webster County. At about 12:51 a.m., a Webster County sheriff’s deputy attempted a traffic stop. That’s when Stockwell allegedly refused to stop and led the deputy on a pursuit through the southern part of Webster County in the Brushy Creek area.

Later, Stockwell’s vehicle struck a stop-stick deployed by a Hamilton County sheriff’s deputy. The vehicle was disabled near 290th Street and Stagecoach Road in Hamilton County.

At about 1:03 a.m., Stockwell drove the Cadillac into a corn field where both he and the passenger fled on foot into the corn, the sheriff’s office reported.

According to deputies, the driver refused commands to stop and was pursued on foot by the deputy. The deputy used a Taser to subdue Stockwell. He was subsequently taken into custody.

A perimeter was set up around the field by law enforcement, but the passenger was not located.

Stockwell is charged with: felony eluding, a class C felony; felony possession of controlled substance, a class D felony; driving while barred habitual offender, an aggravated misdemeanor; possession of marijuana, a serious misdemeanor; interference with official acts, a simple misdemeanor; fraudulent use of registration, a simple misdemeanor; and operating a non-registered vehicle, a simple misdemeanor.

Stockwell is being held in the Webster County Jail on $32,000 cash bond.
