Police ID person found dead over the weekend

The Fort Dodge Police Department has identified a person who was found dead in the former Casablanca Steak House, 140 S. 25th St., on Sunday afternoon.

Fort Dodge resident Terry Brogan, 56, was found unresponsive in what was once the restaurant’s freezer around 2 p.m. on Sunday. Webster County Medical Examiner Dr. Dan Cole was called to the scene and pronounced Brogan dead.

Brogan’s body was sent to the Iowa State Medical Examiner in Ankeny for autopsy.

According to a press release from the FDPD, the vacant building has become an area where homeless individuals would occasionally seek shelter. The restaurant experienced a fire in November 2019.

The FDPD is continuing to investigate the incident. The department said there were no “immediate” signs of foul play, but investigators are looking at “all avenues to determine the timeline of events that led to Mr. Brogan’s death.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the police department at 515-573-1424.
