Local artist Casey Fiferlick created this piece displayed at the corner of 4th Avenue North and North 9th Street. Leah Hovey and some neighborhood children have nicknamed the lot "N9th Unity Park" and even started a Facebook page. Hovey and the children have been working to clean up the area, help neighbors with yard work, and create a sense of unity. Hovey has been using donations to offer snacks and cold water to anyone in need who passes by as well as hosting small gatherings for the neighborhood. The group gave out cold water to RAGBRAI riders on Monday as well. Hovey said, "Hopefully we can bring peace and unity among everyone. It's given these kids a purpose."
