COVID outbreak causes CCS childcare closure

Community Christian School and childcare center will be closed until Thursday due to an uptick in COVID-19 cases amongst staff and children.

School Board President Dan Jacobson said two staff members developed symptoms. He said, “They had some flu-like symptoms so we had everyone go get tested and we had two cases of staff that tested positive.”

CCS chose to close so they can deep clean before reopening.

“We are in the process of a deep clean we do every year for the school and so we thought we would just go ahead and shut down the whole thing and give everybody time,” Jacobson said. “We’ll finish the deep clean and bring everyone back next week.”

CCS held in-person classes all of the 2020-2021 school year.

“The Lord blessed us the whole thing last year when COVID hit, we were able to keep the school and daycare open the whole time,” Jacobson said. “We didn’t have a single case of students or staff with any COVID.”

According to their Facebook page, individual phone calls were placed to all childcare families if they were not informed in person. Any questions may be directed to the CCS office at 515-573-3011.
