Rollin’ on the River with artwork

Webster County youth are invited to use their unique art skills to go Rollin’ on the River with RAGBRAI.

The Fort Dodge RAGBRAI executive committee announced Friday that a youth art contest will be held as part of many events to highlight Fort Dodge during the July 26 overnight stop on the “greatest bicycle ride across Iowa.”

“This is a great opportunity for our youth to get involved in a fun event like RAGBRAI while also showing off their amazing art skills using art forms that they enjoy,” said RAGBRAI executive committee member Niki Conrad, who is a Webster County supervisor.

Youth are encouraged to use their creativity to create a two-dimensional piece of art using a medium of their choice which depicts them riding their bicycle along the river with RAGBRAI and fits the theme of Rollin’ on the River.

All art projects can be dropped off at the Blanden Art Museum during regular business hours, from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. The deadline for submissions is July 9. All submissions must include the name of the artist as well as age, address, and contact telephone number. All art pieces will be separated and judged by age group.

All submissions will be placed throughout store windows in downtown Fort Dodge for display during RAGBRAI.
