A U.S. Postal Service mail truck caught fire around 5 p.m. in the 1000 block of Knollcrest Drive on Tuesday. According to Fort Dodge Fire Department Capt. Jason Vandi, the mail carrier driving the vehicle heard a “pop” noise and saw smoke coming out of the engine compartment. The smoke quickly gave way to flames and overtook the front of the truck. According to Vandi, the mail carrier was able to get out of the truck without injury and remove the mail that was in the back of the truck.
