Fort Dodge Police search for missing runaway

Mackenzie Lyons

The Fort Dodge Police Department is searching for a 16-year-old girl who was reported as a runaway from Youth Shelter Care on May 22 and is still missing.

Mackenzie Lyons, 16, was reported as a runaway from the youth shelter at 301 Ave. M West., around 10:40 a.m. on May 22.

She is originally from the Boone area, has no connections to anyone in Fort Dodge and has a history of running away, according to the Fort Dodge Police Department.

Lyons is 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighs 118 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes and is described as American Indian or Native Alaskan.

Police have been in contact with several individuals to determine her whereabouts, but have not yet received any information to lead to her location. FDPD is unsure about Lyons’ whereabouts at this time, but said she may be in the Denison area.

Lyons is now listed on the Iowa Department of Public Safety’s Missing Person Information Clearinghouse. She has previously been reported as a runaway from Dallas County in October 2020, and from Boone on May 7.

FDPD is reminding members of the public that harboring a runaway child is illegal and individuals may face criminal charges as a result.
