Planting trees

-Messenger photo by Kelby Wingert
Representatives from the city of Fort Dodge Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department and MidAmerican Energy came together to plant five new trees around the Welcome to Fort Dodge monument sign on Quail Avenue on Friday morning. Pictured are, left to right: Karl Larson, of MidAmerican Energy; Aaron Steburg, city of Fort Dodge forester; Kevin Lunn, City of Fort Dodge Parks and Forestry superintendent; Mike Christianson, MidAmerican Forestry; Michelle Reuter, MidAmerican Energy; Justin Harvey, MidAmerican Cares; Lois Wilson, MidAmerican Energy. Three of the five trees planted were ivory silk lilac trees, while the other two planted were firefall maple trees. The trees were purchased from a Trees Please! grant from MidAmerican Energy, which has been part of the Treeline USA program for 18 years and does yearly tree planting in the communities it serves, according to Christianson.
