The RAGBRAI Fort Dodge logo was unveiled Wednesday evening by, from left, Kris Patrick, executive director of Main Street Fort Dodge; Webster County Recorder Lindsay Laufersweiler; Webster County Supervisor Niki Conrad; and Kate Stucky, office manager for the Greater Fort Dodge Growth Alliance.

A colorful image of a bicyclist seeming to jump over a river will become a common sight around Fort Dodge in the weeks and months leading up to the arrival of RAGBRAI in the city.

The image was unveiled Wednesday evening as the RAGBRAI Fort Dodge logo.

It was created by Nick Manwarren, a graphic designer at The Messenger.

‘It really just worked well for the overall look and feel of what we’re trying to do for RAGBRAI Fort Dodge,” said Webster County Supervisor Niki Conrad.

According to Conrad, members of the committee organizing the effort said the logo’s ”colors were great” and that it ”popped off the screen.”

This RAGBRAI Fort Dodge logo was created by Nick Manwarren, a graphic designer for The Messenger.

The logo reflects the Rollin’ on the River theme picked for Fort Dodge’s part in the annual ride that brings thousands of bicyclists to Iowa. Those bicyclists will come into Fort Dodge on July 26 and stay overnight before leaving on the morning of July 27.

Conrad said the logo will be used on the internet and on signs. She said it might also be on shirts and other merchandise.

A lot of things are being done behind the scenes to get ready for RAGBRAI, according to Conrad.

”We’re working on putting the various pieces together,” she said.

Doing that includes things like preparing the forms that vendors who will be in Fort Dodge to cater to the bicyclists will have to fill out.

Volunteer help is still being sought.

”We are absolutely looking for volunteers,” Conrad said.

Anyone interested in volunteering should write to ragbraifd@gmail.com.
