SAC CITY — Jessica Pierce will have the opportunity to help businesses thrive in the same city she has called home for most of her life.

Pierce, a 2015 East Sac High School graduate, is the new executive director of the Sac City Chamber Main Street program. She began her duties March 3.

“One of my goals is to help assist the businesses within Sac City to recover from the pandemic, along with leading individuals who desire to start businesses in the right direction,” Pierce said. “I would also like to help to promote Sac City and provide information to make it a known and desired place to visit and live.”

Pierce is a graduate of Iowa Central Community College and Buena Vista University in Storm Lake. She holds a bachelor’s degree in social work with a minor in psychology.

As director of the Chamber, Pierce is tasked with promoting businesses in Sac City and assisting individuals in new business opportunities.

“I work with the Chamber board and committees to organize events within the community and provide resources for business improvement, historic preservation, amongst many other resources that the Chamber and Main Street Iowa provide,” Pierce said.

Pierce said when she found out about the opportunity to serve her hometown as director of the Chamber, she couldn’t pass it up.

“I have grown up in Sac City and I was excited when the position became available,” she said. “I wanted to become the Chamber director because I wanted to be involved and make a difference within the community that I grew up in.”

She described Sac City as a “supportive community.”

“The city is always looking for ways to create improvements,” Pierce said. “Sac City has numerous opportunities for all individuals and the residents of Sac City are very involved in the different events, committees, etc.”

She’s looking forward to help plan successful community events.

“I am excited to assist in the planning and implementation of our annual Chautauqua Days that happens over the Fourth of July weekend,” she said. “I am just overall excited to create more connections with everyone in Sac City and plan more events to get everyone involved.”
