FD police investigating 2 shots fired incidents

The Fort Dodge Police Department is investigating two incidents of shots fired that occurred overnight Tuesday into Wednesday.

At approximately 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, law enforcement received a report of shots fired in the area of Second Avenue North and 22nd Street. Information provided indicated that a vehicle had fled the area after several shots were fired.

According to a release from the FDPD, when officers arrived, they located evidence of shots being fired in the parking lot of 115 N. 22nd St., the Clark Convenience Store. No injuries were reported and no one was located on the scene when officers arrived.

While officers were investigating this incident, shortly before midnight, they received a call of a male that had been shot at 3102 N. 15th St. Lot #87. FDPD and the Webster County Sheriff’s Office responded and located a male with a gunshot wound to his leg.

The victim was transported to UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Through investigation, the FDPD learned that shots were fired from a vehicle at a group of individuals standing outside of the residence, and it is believed to be the same car and individuals involved in the incident on North 22nd Street.

“We believe both incidences were isolated to these individuals, neither being a random act of violence,” the FDPD report said.

Law enforcement is continuing to investigate these incidents and asks that anyone with information contact the department at 515-573-2323.
