Eagle Grove man sentenced to 10 years for meth

SIOUX CITY — A second Eagle Grove man has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison on charges stemming from a meth trafficking ring in Webster and Wright counties.

Cory Schultz, 38, pleaded guilty in federal court to one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and two counts of distribution of methamphetamine on Nov. 23, 2020. He was accused of conspiring with others to distribute more than 20 pounds of mixed methamphetamine from November 2018 to March 2020.

Schultz was caught on home security recordings distributing meth to other co-conspirators, and the residence he used as a hub for the meth trafficking was located within 1,000 feet of a protected location, Greenwood Park in Eagle Grove.

Schultz also carried a handgun during some of his drug trafficking activities and distributed meth several times to individuals who were actively cooperating with law enforcement. Agents seized more than a quarter pound of meth from searches of Schultz’s garage and vehicle.

Schultz remains in custody of the United States Marshal until he can be transpired to a federal prison. He must serve a six-year term of supervised release following his sentence. There is no parole in the federal system.
