Fort Dodge residents now have the chance to share their ideas for the future of one of the city's older neighborhoods.

An online survey that opens today invites people to offer their thoughts on the Lincoln neighborhood located just north of downtown. Input received through the survey will be used to create a plan for the area.

The survey focuses on an area bordered by North Seventh Street, Dakota Street, North Ninth Street and First Avenue North.

People do not need to be a resident of the neighborhood to participate.

''We are looking for input from the entire community,'' said Carissa Harvey, the city's strategic planner.

To complete the survey, go to the city's Facebook page and follow the link.

The survey can also be completed by going to https://survey.alchemer.com/s3/6233004/Fort-Dodge-Lincoln-Neighborhood-Community-Involvement-Survey.

The survey should take about five minutes to complete.

It will be open beginning today through March 24.

The city government targeted the Lincoln neighborhood for improvements beginning in about 2006. Since then, several houses have been torn down, others have been rehabilitated and a couple of new ones have been built.

Harvey said the new plan for the neighborhood should be done this summer.
