Farmhouse on the move

Dayton man to give house away; needs it relocated ASAP

DAYTON — An old farmhouse may soon be seen on the back of a trailer getting hauled along an Iowa highway to a new destination.

Scott Danielson listed the house for sale on Facebook on Tuesday. The cost — free.

“We are going to build a new house and need this house moved ASAP,” Danielson said in the post.

The house was built in 1912. Danielson said it has had the same owners for the past 40 years.

“We are willing to give the house away to prevent us from having to tear it down,” Danielson said. “Need it moved ASAP. Great home with lots of character.”

The house is located just north of Dayton.

It is a two-story woodframe house.

Attempts to reach Danielson about the house were unsuccessful.

As of Thursday, the house was listed as pending.
