Two-county pursuit ends in crash

The driver of a crashed sport utility vehicle looks out of its sunroof Thursday evening as Fort Dodge police officers approach. The vehicle went off of Fifth Avenue South between Eighth and 12th streets at about 6 p.m. as it was being pursued by police. According to Fort Dodge police Lt. Dennis Mernka, the chase began on U.S. Highway 20 in Hamilton County. The driver was checked by paramedics at the scene and was taken into custody by the Iowa State Patrol.
