Man arrested for robbery after shooting

A man has been taken into custody for first-degree robbery after the Webster County Sheriff’s Office responded to a man suffering from a gunshot wound in the Coleman District Monday morning.

Tyler Rosburg, 29, was arrested following a chase after the call at about 8 a.m. He has been charged with first-degree robbery, a class B felony, and possession of a firearm as a felon, a class D felony.

Deputies responding to the scene at 2055 S. 12th St. found a 28-year-old man shot. He receive medical treatment on the scene and was transported to UnityPoint — Trinity Regional Medical Center.

Sheriff Luke Fleener said the victim, shot by an unknown firearm, told deputies that two white males and one black male forced their way into his home with firearms. He identified one as Rosburg and said all three left in a white Chevrolet HHR.

Within minutes of the call, Chief Deputy Derek Christie spotted a vehicle fitting the description traveling west on 11th Avenue Southwest and attempted to stop it. The driver of the vehicle refused to stop, leading Christie on a short pursuit through Fort Dodge before the Chevrolet crashed on the Hawkeye Avenue Bridge near its intersection with Second Street Northwest.

Investigations so far have uncovered numerous firearms and an unspecified quantity of illegal narcotics. The incident remains under investigation.
