Williamson to return to FD for annual Christmas concert

St. Paul to host 'The Peace and Joy of Christmas'

A musical Christmas tradition many area families look forward to every year will not succumb to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Christian singer Jennie Williamson is returning to Fort Dodge this week for her 16th local Christmas show, entitled “The Peace and Joy of Christmas,” at St. Paul Lutheran Church.

“It’s an incredible time for us to come together and support each other,” Williamson said during a Tuesday phone interview. “When things are changing around us, the one thing that doesn’t change is Jesus.”

“I am just filled with anticipation to do this concert,” she added.

There will actually be two concerts. The first will begin at 6:30 p.m. Friday. The second will begin at 4 p.m. Saturday. Both will be at the church, 400 S. 13th St.

Both shows are free.

Wiiliamson said performing two shows will create more opportunities for people to spread out in the church to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

“That’s going to allow a lot more spacing.” she said. “There will be plenty of space for everybody.”

Williamson said she will be singing traditional Christmas favorites such as “Joy to the World.”

She said she will also be singing a couple of new original songs, which she described as “very pertinent to what’s going on right now.”

Her husband, Brian Williamson, grew up in Fort Dodge. They now live in Franklin, Tennessee, with their two daughters.

She has released the “God Is Great!” series of CDs for children and several other Christian music CDs.
