FD man faces weapons charges

Police: Daudinot displayed firearm at Brass Monkey

Daudinot, Tavin

A Fort Dodge man has been arrested after displaying a firearm at Brass Monkey Lounge, according to the Fort Dodge Police Department.

Tavin R. Daudinot, 29, is charged with two counts of possession of a firearm by a felon, a class D felony; going armed with intent, a class D felony; and assault while displaying a weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor.

According to police, Daudinot displayed the weapon early Saturday morning on Nov. 7 at Brass Monkey Lounge. Police were called to the business at 1:30 a.m. for a report of a fight that had occurred there.

When officers arrived, large groups of people were leaving the area. Police spoke with Daudinot at a nearby bar, but at that time there was not sufficient evidence to support his arrest.

Later, police learned Daudinot was on federal probation and is prohibited from being in possession of a firearm.

On Friday, the Webster County Special Emergency Response Team executed a search warrant at 1528 Fourth Ave. N.

At that time, Daudinot was taken into custody.

During the investigation, several firearms were recovered from the Fourth Avenue North residence. A quantity of illegal narcotics were also found.

The Webster County Sheriff’s Office and United States Probation for the Southern District of Iowa assisted in the case.

The Fort Dodge Police Department continues to investigate.
