Preschool partially closes after COVID-19 case

Community Christian School’s preschool for 4-year-olds will be closed for the next two weeks after a staff member tested positive for COVID-19.

The staff member was last in the classroom on Monday afternoon, according to CCS Principal Stephanie Coble-Day. Those affected will be contacted by Webster County Public Health for contact tracing.

Both morning and afternoon preschool classes for 4-year-olds will resume on Oct. 26.

CCS uses a system in its school that helps contain those exposed to the virus by keeping classrooms separated throughout the day, including at lunch time and recess. Though most teachers in other grade levels wear masks throughout the day, Coble-Day said that preschool teachers can opt not to wear one to allow for easier communication with young children.

In this situation, she said the infected staff member was not wearing a mask. The school has not received reports of other staff or students being infected.
