Otho crash sends one to hospital

OTHO — One man was transported to the hospital after a two-vehicle collision near Otho on Thursday afternoon.

According to Iowa State Patrol Sgt. Neil Morenz, Thomas Krough, 60, of Otho, was traveling southwest on School Street between Kalo and Otho in a 1966 Ford Thunderbird around 2:40 p.m. when he took a curve in the road too fast and crossed over the center line and collided with Alan Deal, 67, of Fort Dodge, who was driving a 2016 Toyota Tacoma towing a NEW Cooperative tender trailer in the opposite direction.

Both vehicles ended up on the east side of the road, with the trailer in the ditch.

A passenger in the Thunderbird, Scott Johnson, 64, of Callender, was transported via ambulance to UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center for “non-incapacitating injuries,” Morenz said.

Morenz said there have been no charges filed, pending the conclusion of the investigation.

The Webster County Sheriff’s Office, Otho Fire Department and Fort Dodge Fire Rescue were also on scene.
