One man described as in his twenties died earlier this morning following a single-vehicle motorcycle accident in northwest Fort Dodge.
According to the Fort Dodge Police Department, the Webster County Telecommunications Center received a call about an unresponsive male lying in the grass near Hawkeye Avenue and Second Street Northwest. Authorities were also told that a motorcycle was lying in the grass in close proximity to the individual.
FDPD and medics with Fort Dodge Fire Rescue arrived on scene and found the unresponsive male, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the man was traveling westbound when he struck a tree at the intersection of Hawkeye Avenue and Second Street Northwest, police say. It is unclear at what time the accident happened. Anyone with information is asked to call the FDPD at 515-573-2323.
The name of the victim is not being released at this time.
The Iowa State Patrol will continue the accident investigation.
