MNW school board OKs levy extension

MANSON — A levy to fund instructional support has been extended an additional five years by the Manson Northwest Webster Community School District Board of Education.

The board approved the extension of the levy during its Oct. 21 meeting.

“The instructional support levy is a levy that can be used for any general fund purpose,” Superintendent Justin Daggett said.

The levy is taxed on property valued at a rate of 18 cents per $1,000 of taxable value. The levy has been in place since 2000, Daggett said, and was set to expire at the end of the current fiscal year.

“The school board is choosing to extend it for five more years to solidify funding for the increasing cost of educating our students,” he said.
