Kinney is finalist at Iowa Western

3 others also in pool for top job

Iowa Central Community College President Dan Kinney has been named a finalist for the presidency of a community college in southwestern Iowa.

The Daily NonPareil in Council Bluffs has reported that Kinney is one of three finalists in contention to become president of Iowa Western Community College.

Kinney’s father, also named Dan Kinney, is currently the president of that school in Council Bluffs. He will retire on Dec. 31.

A phone call seeking comment from Iowa Central President Kinney was not returned by late Sunday night.

Kinney has been president of the Fort Dodge school since July 2009.

The Daily NonPareil reported that David Hinds, formerly the president of Victoria College in Victoria, Texas; and Charles Lepper, vice president for student affairs and enrollment management at Salt Lake Community College in Salt Lake City, Utah; are the other two finalists for the post.

They will be interviewed by the Iowa Western Board of Trustees Nov. 4-6. The board is expected to name a new president soon after that.
