Arrest made in Casey’s robbery

Fort Dodge police have arrested a Fort Dodge man in connection to the robbery of a Casey’s General Store Wednesday night.

Aries N. McGee, 23, has been charged with first-degree robbery, a Class B felony, and fifth-degree theft, a simple misdemeanor. Thursday morning, he was arrested by officers through a traffic stop of the vehicle seen leaving the crime scene after being spotted in traffic on North 15th Street near Oakland Cemetery.

Police determined that McGee left the Casey’s at 2007 N. 15th St. with less than $300.

The robbery was discovered after a 911 hang up call from the Casey’s General Store came into the Webster County Telecommunications Center just before midnight. Officers were sent after dispatchers attempted to call the store back and received no answer.

Police said McGee demanded money from the store clerk after flashing a handgun. No injuries were reported.

The Fort Dodge Police Department is continuing the investigation into this incident and encourages anyone with information to contact the police.
