Woman injured in crash on 169

A woman was injured when she was apparently thrown from this car during a violent collision at the intersection of U.S. Highway 169 and Avenue G late Friday afternoon. She was transported to UnityPoint Health - Trinity Regional Medical Center. The crash occurred at about 4:30 p.m. Fort Dodge police Sgt. Donald McLaren said the woman, driving a Saturn sedan, tried to cross the northbound lanes of U.S. Highway 169 from Avenue G and her car was struck by a Chevrolet Malibu that was heading north on the highway. McLaren said the driver of the Chevrolet suffered a laceration on one arm, but did not go to the hospital The names of the drivers were unavailable Friday, and the crash remained under investigation.
