One sent to hospital after Wednesday morning wreck
One person was taken to UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center following a two-vehicle wreck on U.S. Highway 169/Lainson Avenue at 170th Street on Wednesday morning.
According to Webster County Sheriff Jim Stubbs, at about 7:25 a.m. Alexis Miller, of Duncombe, was driving a 2007 Chevrolet sedan westbound on 170th Street and making a left-hand turn onto Lainson Avenue when she was struck by Gumercindo Ortega Hernandez, of Sioux City, who was driving a 1995 Ford van northbound on Lainson Avenue.
One person who was in Miller’s vehicle was taken to TRMC “as a precaution” Stubbs said. He was unsure if the individual was the driver or a passenger.
Stubbs said Miller was cited for failure to obey a stop sign.
The Webster County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol and the Fort Dodge Police Department.
