Crash sends two to hospital

An accident at the intersection of Second Avenue South and South 18th Street around 1:30 p.m. Thursday occurred when a Mercury sedan failed to yield to crossing traffic, according to Fort Dodge Police Department Lt. Dennis Mernka. The T-boned Dodge Durango went into a curb to its right as the Mercury sedan continued to travel, crashing into a street sign. The four-way intersection has two yield signs.

Two people were transported to UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center with apparent minor injuries after their Dodge Durango was t-boned at the intersection of Second Avenue South and South 18th Street around 1:30 p.m. Thursday, according to Fort Dodge Police Department Lt. Dennis Mernka. At the scene, Mernka said the driver who hit them in a Mercury sedan did not seem to have a valid drivers license.
