Man hurt in cycle crash

- Messenger photo by Bill Shea Fort Dodge Fire Department paramedics and city police tend to David Grunwald, of Fort Dodge, Friday evening after the motorcycle he was driving collided with a car. He appeared to suffer injuries to his left hand, right arm and legs. The crash happened at about 7:12 p.m. Police Sgt. Paul Samuelson said Grunwald was driving a 2013 Kawasaki motorcycle northbound in an alley that runs north and south between South 21st Street and South 22nd Street. Samuelson said Grunwald did not stop at the alley’s intersection with 11th Avenue South and was struck by an eastbound 2011 Ford Mustang operated by Derrick McCarthy, of Fort Dodge. McCarthy, who was delivering pizzas, estimated that the motorcycle was going 45 mph when it came out of the alley. He was unhurt
