CLARION — One woman is dead following a Wednesday evening motorcycle accident outside of Clarion.

According to a crash report from the Iowa State Patrol, Michelle JoAnn Gambrill, 56, of Clarion, was riding her 2009 KYMC motorcycle eastbound on Iowa Highway 3 when a 2000 GMC Envoy driven by Michael James Curtis, 40 of Clarion, going westbound on Highway 3 turned south onto 10th Street Southeast and collided with Gambrill. The crash occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m.

The report said that Gambrill was separated from her motorcycle in the accident and she was dragged by the Envoy until it came to a rest on top of Gambrill on the west edge of 10th Street Southeast.

Gambrill died as a result of the injuries sustained in the crash. Her body was transported to the Iowa State Medical Examiner in Ankeny for autopsy.

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by the Wright County Sheriff’s Department, Clarion Police Department and Clarion Emergency Medical Services.
