The Iowa State Patrol, along with Webster County Sheriff’s Department and Dayton Police Department responded to a single-motorcycle crash on 290th Street west of Lehigh on Wednesday evening. The driver was not wearing a helmet and died at the scene.

Emergency personnel perform CPR on a motorcycle crash victim near Lehigh on Wednesday evening. At approximately 7 p.m., a motorcycle rider failed to negotiate a curve and lost control of his bike along 290th Street west of Lehigh. The driver was not wearing a helmet and died at the scene.
The victim of a fatal motorcycle crash in rural Webster County on Wednesday night has been identified by the Iowa State Patrol.
Daymon Peterson, 55, of Burnside, was riding his 1988 Yamaha motorcycle on 290th Street west of Lehigh when he failed to navigate a curve and landed in a ditch off the roadway at approximately 7 p.m. Peterson died at the scene.
According to the Webster County website, Peterson was a Class C equipment operator for the Webster County Engineering and Secondary Roads Department.
