FD man makes initial appearance for attempted murder

The suspect charged with attempted murder in the stabbing of another man answered to his charge in Webster County Magistrate Court Friday morning.

Bail for Donathan L. Williams, 41, was set at $100,000 cash only.

Williams was arrested after the victim, a 39-year-old man, walked into Community Health Center with wounds in his neck and back. He was transported to UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center for serious injuries not believed to be life threatening.

The criminal complaint for the charge said the victim was stabbed after Williams followed him up to his fifth-floor apartment in the Biltwell Apartment building, 106 N. 10th St.

Video surveillance shows Williams, walking with a knife, involved in an apparent altercation in his apartment before leaving, then returning and chasing him down the hallway toward the building’s fire escape. In addition to video surveillance, a very apparent trail of blood led officers to the scene of the crime.

A motive for the crime has not yet been made clear from current information, but Fort Dodge police believe it was an isolated incident.

As police continue their investigation, anyone with information on the incident is encouraged to contact the FDPD at 515-573-1426. Tips can be submitted anonymously to Webster Crime Stoppers at 515-573-1444, or by texting “LEC” and the tip to 274637.
