FD City Council awards sewer contract
Zoning change for child care center approved
A company has been hired to reline some sanitary sewers at various locations throughout Fort Dodge in a process that will fix those pipes without having to dig up streets.
The City Council on Monday hired Municipal Pipe Tool Co., of Hudson, to do that job at a cost of $2,846,000.
Other bidders for the job were Hydro-Klean LLC, Des Moines, $3,100,705.96; Visu-Sewer inc., Pewaukee, Wisconsin, $3,118,536.05; and SAK Construction, O’Fallon, Missouri, $3,177,686.25.
Also on Monday, the council approved the rezoning of 5.6 acres of land along North 32nd Street north of the Rosedale Rapids Aqautic Center from agricultural to single family residential. The owners of ChildCare DiscoveryCenter are proposing a new 18,000-square-foot facility there to replace the current one at 2329 First Ave. S.
Also on Monday, the council:
• Approved a property tax abatement for a new house at 1640 Floral Ave., owned by Dan Summers.
• Purchased a house at 714 Third Ave. N. from Keith Eldridge for $39,000. The house will eventually be demolished to make room for future development.
• Accepted the donation of a house at 205 First Ave. S. from Availa Bank. That house will also be demolished.
